Courage

A non-profit horse rescue in Southern Vermont

Courage is an incredible example of strength, resilience, and beauty. This six-year-old Standardbred gelding has overcome tremendous physical challenges after suffering severe neglect for much of his young life. Seeing him today—happily galloping through the fields—is a beautiful reminder of just how far he has come and gives us so much hope for his future.
Courage is now far enough along in his rehabilitation that he is ready to take the next exciting step in his journey: finding a home of his own. He is officially available for adoption!
Although Courage will never be a riding or working horse, he can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life with plenty of turnout, room to stretch his legs, and the companionship of a herd. His feet are still being rehabilitated and will continue to require supportive shoeing due to the severe overgrowth and deformities caused by the neglect he endured.
Now that he is feeling better, Courage has developed quite the energetic and spunky personality! He is playful, entertaining, and full of life—and he would be a wonderfully fun addition to the right herd. Because he was gelded later in life, he would do best living with other geldings.
Courage will need an experienced adopter with strong horse-handling skills who understands his ongoing needs and is committed to continuing his care. After everything this special boy has overcome, we want nothing more than to see him spend the rest of his life happy, comfortable, and free to simply be a horse.
If you are interested in adopting this very special horse, please read our adoption requirements and fill out an application. Adoption fee: $800
